Medicinal Properties & Uses Of Drumstick (Sajina / Moringa / Moringa oleifera)

      
         A Vegetable Cum Herb and mostly seen in the end of winter. It is very testy in terms of discs and very beneficial in terms of medicinal view. There is another plant named same “Drumstick” (Cassia fistula, having yellow flowers and so also known as golden shower tree or Sonaru or aragvadha or chaturangula or bendra lathi or Amaltas ) which also having very good medicinal properties. However, both are different in terms of look and fruits. In Sajina we used to eat the fruits, seeds,leafs, roots. This plant having some god gifted benefits for humankind as well as animal kingdom. Ø  It is a fast growing and grows even from stumps.
Ø  Native to the southern foothills of the Himalayas.
Ø  It is a drought-resistant tree.
Ø  The flowers are fragrant and bisexual.
Ø  The nutritional value is more than any common food we used to take regularly.
Medicinal Properties & Uses
Ø  It gives Immunological supports.
Ø  It is good for patients having hypertensions.
Ø  Very rich in calcium, leafs are seven times more effective then known source of calcium, milk.
Ø  It improves sexual activity.
Ø  A very good source of potassium and it is more than four time richer than our known potassium source banana.
Ø  It is very good for skin.
Ø  It increases lactation.
Ø  A good source of Vitamin A (Almost double of that we used to get from carrot).
Ø  Works very nice as an anti-inflammatory herb.
Ø  Very much effective in arthritis.
Ø  It is used for treating malnutrition.
Ø  It is useful in gingivitis.
Ø  It is useful for heart and prevents heart diseases.
Ø  It is locally used in pain and swelling.
Ø  It is useful in fungal diseases.
Ø  It is good for dandruff in local use.
Ø  It having a property that lowers the lipid level in the body.
Ø  It can be used as micro nutrition supplement at home.
Ø  It is helpful in diabetes.
Ø  It is very effective in joint pains.

Contraindication
         Almost a safe herb but few precaution is better,
Ø Avoid in any case of reaction noted after use.

Ø Tab. Septilin (Himalaya) 
Ø Moringa is an active component in almost in all patent herbal painkiller preparations.
